Microsoft Announces Halo 5: Guardians
May 16, 2014
Concluding a week filled with several pre-E3 announcements, Microsoft has announced the fifth title in the Halo series, Halo 5: Guardians, due for release in 2015.
The game, announced via an Xbox Wire post by 343 Industries head Bonnie Hammer, will be the first entry in the series released for the Xbox One. While no footage or major details were confirmed (aside from it running at 60FPS), Hammer mentions that the game is a much bigger effort than Halo 4. “That applies to the content and scope of the game, as well as the technology in what’s now a brand new and more powerful engine,” Hammer said, “Certainly there are some core elements carried over from prior games, but we’ve invested a huge effort in retooling our tech to take full advantage of the Xbox One’s hardware and ecosystem to create worlds and experiences worthy of next-gen.”
More details and footage from the game are confirmed to be a part of the Microsoft E3 press conference. Halo 5 continues the Reclaimer Saga, which began with 2012′s Halo 4, and continued with 2013′s Halo: Spartan Assault.
