Deep Silver Acquires Homefront: The Revolution

July 31, 2014

Publisher Deep Silver has acquired the Homefront brand from Crytek, less than two months after Homefront: The Revolution was announced. The game’s development team, originally working out of Crytek UK’s offices, will be transferred to Deep Silver’s newly founded Dambuster Studios; both offices are located in Nottingham.

Following this announcement, Crytek confirmed this sale and additionally confirmed layoffs from its US studio. Crytek US was working on Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age; development of this title will be transferred to Crytek Frankfurt.

“We are thrilled to see another great IP joining the Deep Silver universe,” said Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of Deep Silver’s parent company Koch Media, “We strongly believe in the potential of Homefront: The Revolution and trust in the new team to continue the path we have been walking in the last years.”

“As we look to cement Crytek’s future, this strategic deal with Koch Media would allow us to continue with our ambitious goals to become an online publisher,” said Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli, “With Warface, Arena of Fate, and Hunt, we believe we have the perfect portfolio and teams to make that happen. We would like to thank all our staff–past and present–in both Nottingham and Austin for their contributions to the company, and we wish all the very best to anyone who may no longer be under the Crytek banner moving forward.”

This announcement comes amidst reports of Crytek employees not being paid on time.
