October 30, 2019

Written by Tom Anderson

CouchWarriors VIC Smash Ranbats for October 2019 were held on Saturday the 26th at Davies St in Brunswick. Here’s a summary of the results in every game and how the top matches played out. A complete listing of match results and brackets for each game can be viewed on Smash.gg here.

Results for Smash U count towards the standings for the BAM Path To EVO series for that game, which can be viewed here.

Smash Melee

1. MM|Joshman

2. Kanga|Dekar

3. Fess

Joshua “MM|Joshman” Lyras had to fend off multiple challenges in a tight top 8 that featured many close sets. In the end he was too strong for David “Kanga|Dekar” Moore in both Winners and Grands, taking home the title for this month.

Smash Ultimate

1. Kanga|Ghost

2. SebPro101

3. R!OT|Dome|Duon

Kanga Esports star Joshua “Ghost” Francis looked imperious as he cruised to victory with Mii Brawler! Jason Lee “R!OT|Dome|DUON” Mustapic ensured this achievement would not be forgotten, spicing up the winners photo with his unsettling Halloween getup.

Smash Melee Doubles

1. MM|Joshman / Zhye

2. Hughie / FTD|lil se$h

3. Splice / Kanga|Dekar

Joshman and partner in crime Zhye cleaned up in this smaller event, only dropping a single game the whole tournament. Dekar tried to improve on his 3rd place from last month with a new partner in Splice, but ended up with the same result.

Smash Ultimate Doubles

1. ATH|DD / Kanga|Jdizzle

2. Kanga|Ghost / SebPro101

3. Insie / FURY|P9

The bonds of doubles partnership proved stronger than the bonds of team allegiance, as Kanga stablemates Jdizzle and Ghost clashed in the finals alongside respective partners Bradley “ATH|DD” Kun and Sebastian “SebPro101” Tabone. Jdizzle, also harnessing the power of the spooky season, came out on top.

Project M

1. rayquaza man 812

2. Bubby

3. OsP|Microsoft J

After being knocked out by Rebecca “Bubby” Owens in last month’s Loser’s Finals and losing to her again in Winners this time around, perennial ranbat contender “rayquaza man 812” got revenge with a vicious 6-0 Grand Finals reset victory.

Rivals of Aether

1. SNC

2. OSU

3. Timeline|Conga-Heli

Community figurehead SNC swept the Rivals bracket for the 2nd month in a row. This time not a single game was lost on the way to the title. Can SNC be stopped in this game?

Congratulations to all of our top-placed competitors from October! You can find details of future ranbat events on the CouchWarriors Facebook page.
