CouchWarriors VIC FGC Ranbats for October 2019 were held on Saturday the 5th at Davies St in Brunswick. Here’s a summary of the results in every game and how the top matches played out. A complete listing of match results and brackets for each game can be viewed on Smash.gg here.
Results for SFV, MK11, Tekken 7, and Smash U count towards the standings for the BAM Path To EVO series for that game, which can be viewed here.
Street Fighter V
- ORDER|ROF
- DS|Somniac
- Schenkhan
Christian “ORDER|ROF” Dedalija may have barely a quarter of the BAM Path to EVO points that Xavier “DS|Somniac” Nardella can boast, but he was on a mission to change that this weekend. ROF blitzed the field and bopped Somniac twice along the way, sending a clear message to his VIC rival.
Came out on top of the @CouchWarriors ranbat with a delicious first place and some Path to Evo points!

Tekken 7
- Kanga|ChandNY
- Chipzeeh
- AFriendlyTree
Naveed “ChandNY” Iqbal is among the very best Australian TEKKEN competitors ever, and proved that again here with a crushing clean sweep of the tournament. As he currently sits in a tight pack of players on the BAM Path to EVO ladder, the points from this win will be very valuable for his final rank.
Mortal Kombat 11
- Victrix|Castiel
- ODT|GooGie
- SC17|Souls Clue
Blake “Victrix|Castiel” Asquith bounced back from a disappointing early exit at last weekend’s Total Kombat top 8 by crushing this ranbat. Beating Edison “ODT|GooGie” Nguyen twice was also a reversal of their matchup at the QLD ranbat this month. No doubt the rivalry will continue so long as MK11 is part of our tournament lineup – but who will prove the stronger Kombatant?
Samurai Shodown
- DS|Somniac
- Rupps
- Humzoid0909
SamSho has consistently rewarded players with Street Fighter experience at our ranbats, and Xavier “DS|Somniac” Nardella continued that trend as he forced the competition to #EmbraceDeath.
DragonBall FighterZ
- KHFC|Agent17805
- Humzoid0909
- Nolbie
Ray “Agent17805” Usanto continued the KHFC squad’s cross-state dominance over DragonBall Fighterz with a big win over Humzoid0909. The latter also deserves credit for twin podium performances, here and in SamSho.
Soul Calibur VI
- Florinxfox
- JEL
- TRIxFLOOFY|Borgieman
Jonathan “Florinxfox” Iliareizis had a very clean showing in a small but powerful field, going undefeated on the day. Aaron “TRIxFLOOFY|Borgieman” Borg managed to make 3rd here despite the draining effort of running – and placing in – tournaments all PAX weekend!

Dead or Alive 6
- CW|Berzerk
- Homu|Javi
- Frank
CouchWarriors’ own Daniel “CW|Berzerk” Chlebowczyk proved he still has the touch, taking the DOA6 tournament! But he had to do it the hard way, busting out a pocket Christie pick on the way to a reset win in Grand Finals.

GGXRD Rev 2
- Feri
- EMO|Forte
- Homu|Javi
This ranbat saw a great grindy battle between Feri and Forte, played over several matches. Feri beat Forte in Winners Final 2-1, Forte bounced back in a 2-1 Losers Final win to then reset the Grand Final 2-1. The gas ran out there sadly as Feri won the reset in another 2-0, but it made for some great tension in the moment. Shoutout to ashxu, who was knocked out in Losers Quarters but only lost to 2nd-placed Forte and 3rd-placed Javi – both tight 1-2 sets.
UNIST
- Silent
- ragkyo
- lucia
Credit to the finalists but the highlight here was Lucia running the entire top 8 from Losers side, without dropping a set until eventually being knocked out at 3rd by ragkyo. Massive.
BBTAG
- ragkyo
- Homu|Javi
- Arty Blazy
Homu|Javi secured a hattrick of big finishes for this ranbat, scrapping to 2nd place here. Eventual winner ragkyo was also coming from a 2nd place in UNIST, as befits a crossover game like BBTAG.
Congratulations to all of our top-placed competitors from October! You can find details of future ranbat events on the CouchWarriors Facebook page.
