Recently formed Australian distribution label Hanabee announced its first two anime acquisitions at the Sydney Manga and Anime Show (SMASH). Australia and New Zealand retail will be seeing the DVD releases of Toradora! Volume One (とらドラ!) and Dream Eater Merry (夢喰いメリー) on October 3rd.
Toradora! was originally released as a light novel in 2006 and has since become one of the larger series to be released in America. Dream Eater Merry is a half-season anime based on the ongoing manga created by Ushiki Yoshitaka.
Zi Xie, Brand Manager of Hanabee, said:
“We’ve been seeing a huge range of high quality titles coming out of Japan and we’re here to go the extra mile to bring over the best media we possibly can, and to try to bring a big slice of the Japanese anime culture to the fans in Australia.
Toradora! and Dream Eater Merry are the first of many announcements, and our fans can look forward to more of our hints and trivia on Facebook. We’re looking to make announcements in the run up to next month’s Manifest event in Melbourne, and a few more during the show itself.”
