Remember Devils Third? It was supposed to be THQ’s big collaboration with the newly formed Valhalla Game Studios (headed up by former Team Ninja lead Tomonobu Itagaki). It’s been ages since we’ve seen ANYTHING on the game, but that could mostly be put on THQ effectively parting ways with Valhalla, thanks to their financial woes. But for the few that are still holding out for the slightest hit of information, there’s a shred of hope for the game.
In an interview with Famitsu’s Xbox 360 Magazine (via Eurogamer), Itagaki confirmed that his studio now completely owns the rights to the game, thanks to THQ returning them to the developer. From here, it’s up to Vahalla to find a publisher to get the game out there, in what Itagaki describes as “its final stage now, and is most expensive in this term”. Basically, it’s the most expensive because they need to get advertisements and the like out there. A further upside? Itagaki basically described the game as practically done, so perhaps it’ll finally see a release in the next year or so.
So, serious question – is anyone still looking forward to the game? Because even when it was first shown, I couldn’t quite get hyped for it. Perhaps now that it’s finally on some track, I can finally see why people are kinda clamouring for it.
